The Art of our Lives
It's in our homes, our cars, our work and almost every other place we go. It invades our silence, manipulates our thoughts and plays on our emotions. It has been with us almost as long as mans very existence, has survived World Wars, famine, and disease and is constantly changing, while still remaining true to its roots and reflecting on our culture. Some people are blessed with the gift of being able to creating and expressing themselves through it, while everyone is capable of enjoying it on at least on level. It is dynamic, complex, very beautiful art form, which will never die. Its name is music.Every generation and cultural group has grown up with their own special style of music, a style that reflects on the people, society, economy and beliefs of a decade. Another sub-culture, classified broadly as the ""underground" scene, remains true to rock styles of the 60's, 70's and 80's and continues to produce music of a so called "X-Generation" in the forms of punk, grunge, hip-hop, rap, metal and alternative. Integrating mainly the rap / hip-hop sound, which was born in the black ghetto's of America when youths started rapping over other artists tracks, and the punk scene, which originated in the late 60's but only really took life in th!e 80's as a form of anarchists, rebellions voice, "New Metal" has surfaced from the underground and has taken our children. Music poses a magic quality that crawls under our skin and can make us move almost involuntary to a beat, or send us to a state of content - making us wish the whole world could share our song. With the birth of the technological age of the 21st century, music has seen the integration of electronic effects and synthesized instruments into the regular rock melodies. Be it someone taping a drumbeat on their desk or a kid strumming frantically on their guitar, its sheer diversity and ability to be completely dynamic, allows for music to be an amazingly individual form of expression. Artists such as Prodigy relied entirely on the use of electronic sound in the creating of their dance music, a genre that originated with the birth of the club scene and inspired a complete sub-culture. It may reach back and grab at past decades of sound and what made the decade stand out, but it will always be unique and remain original, just as its creators are. It knows how to tap into every emotion that we as humans feel.
