Marijuanas early start
Lisa, Jenny and Alex were all 11 years old and in the sixth grade. They were great athletes and super smart. They had everything going for them, until they got suspended from school for the use and possession of marijuana. This scenario and others much similar have become a regular occurrence in schools across the United States. A recent government survey tells us that marijuana is the most frequently used illegal drug in the country; it also says that nearly 50% of teenagers have tried marijuana before they graduate from high school.* From personal experiences, I think that that number is much higher for our school. Most of my friends and fellow classmates have smoked it before and many of them still smoke it on a regular basis. Friends encourage friends, who encourage new friends. And it’s easy; everybody knows that it is easy. It’s not a jock thing, a guy thing or even a troubled kid thing. During the summer kids say, “Hey mom, Joe and me are going to go on a bike ride”, and then they go to a little hide away and get high. Nom matter what day it is there is always an easy way to find somebody to buy marijuana from. Not very many of them are doing this but there are a few. If they are in sixth grade smoking it now, who is to say that in a couple years it won’t be fifth graders…or fourth graders? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ **Bibliography** . Many parents won’t believe it because in their frame of mind there isn’t somewhere that these kids can be getting it from.
