Television Violence And Our Children

Television Violence And Our Children Television violence is a growing problem in our society and leads to aggression in people all over the world. Every year more and more situations occur where violence viewed on television programming leads to tragedy. In many cases these problems involve young children. Children as young as 2 or 3 years old have the intelligence to recognize violence that they view on their television sets and do not realize that what they are viewing is not a part of reality. Violent Television Leads to Aggressiona. One of the main reasons why children feel that the violence they see in television is okay is due to the way in which it is portrayed. Infliction of pain and suffering is so desensitized it has become a source of entertainment (Caruso C4). Again, parents will most likely not be able to take their children away from their favorite cartoons that do display aggressive behavior and other types of violence. Parents of young children should regulate and choose only morally neutral programs for their children. The way in which television is portrayed leads to children feeling that television violence in enjoyable and entertaining. However, attempting to hook these children on morally neutral programs is a valuable attempt to diminish the aggressive behavior children obtain from television. "All those who deny any linkage between violence in entertainment and Violence in real life, think again. 1999, C4Landon McGawOutline For Argument PaperIntroduction1. By doing this, the problem of television violence will begin to decline in the near future. It s is now entirely clear that exposure to television violence is and important factor in aggressive behavior in children.
