Jonathan Livingston Seagull
Jonathan Livingston Seagull encounters many different characters with important roles that have different ideas and beliefs. These characters include Jonathan, Fletcher, Chiang, and many members of the flock. There are also many concepts that accompany these beliefs throughout this novel.Jonathan and Fletcher were similar in many ways, however they also had many differences. Both Jonathan and Fletcher were eager to learn. Jonathan had learned many things throughout the course of his life alone. When he met Chiang, The Great Gull, he was eager to learn his skills and become an apprentice. He did not understand his concept of his body being an unlimited idea of freedom, but later on he understood the idea of what Chiang was teaching him. When Fletcher met Jonathan he was very eager to learn from him. He also did not under

Fletcher on the other hand felt he had been harshly treated and he wanted to show the ones that outcast him how superior he was. This is the struggle that almost everyone has faced in his or her life whether it is facing adversity or overcoming obstacles in order to achieving their goals. stand the concept of his body being an unlimited idea of freedom until later. Both Jonathan and Fletcher were outcasts in the eyes of their flock, however Fletcher was vengeful while Jonathan was planning on enlightening others of his teachings. Jonathan's motivation to do better was because of his pursuit of a higher learning of flying and a better understanding of what he was about and who he was. He taught Jonathan many skills, but the most important thing he taught him is his ideas and concepts. This is not only the struggle of a seagull names Jonathan. Heaven is being perfect and he will soon reach heaven by reaching perfect speed. Jonathan also encounters Chiang who is a wise elder.
