Starting in the early 1990s, a new type of music was becoming very popular. Fast beats, violent words and sexual behavior characterize rap and hip/hop music. This type of music was called rap music or hip/hop.

The blues were an important and crucial part of the Black accomplishments in the early 1900s. Rap and hip/hop have become a downright crucial to the music industry and the American culture. The blues seem to be heavily rooted in African American work songs, field hollers, and spirituals dating back to the first days of slavery on this continent.
