Happiness with one's life is important to the success and development of every endeavor that may be pursued. When someone is not happy with themselves or with their surroundings, they may tend to lead miserable and devastating lives. This is evident in the short story, "The Necklace", by author Guy De Maupassant. The story is centered on a beautiful woman named Mme.Loisel. Mme.Loisel wishes of being wealthy and yearns to be adored, while her husband is content being a clerk and living within their means. Mme. Loisel lacks any sympathy for the feelings of her husband and shows no appreciation for the devotion he renders. Mr. Loisel, however, proves to be devoted, respectable, and loving, throughout "The Necklace".Mr. Loisel has always been devoted to his wife, despite her constant dreams of riches and beauty. Loisel is always putting his wife before himself, and that is the biggest act of love anyone could ever display. The married couple work for ten years sacrificing many things. He is definitely one of the "few good men" out there, and it is a tragedy that she never takes the time to thank him for all that he does. Loisel as devoted, respectable and loving. Loisel becomes upset by the invitation because she lacks a dress for the party. Loisel shows that he is respectable and noble when he responds to the actions they must take due to the missing necklace. Loisel displays a strong devotion to his wife by his willingness to go back out after the party to find the necklace that his wife lost. He never fails her and he never loses his devotion, respectability, or lovingness that makes him who he is.
