Human Cloning
As technology continues to advance, new breakthroughs are discovered. With these new developments, serious ethical and moral questions arise. Though there are many advantages of cloning, many religions do not agree with it. Many people say that we should not try to interfere with nature, and that cloning humans is 'playing God'. I think that cloning an entire human is taking away their individual personality and uniqueness. Some may question if the disadvantages of cloning outweigh the advantages. The major problems with human cloning is whether or not it will be accepted into today's society, and the effect it will have on the future population. The question is, is there much more positive outcomes than there are negative?Organ cloning is something that would be extremely beneficial to society. For example, if a young child is about to die because of a failing heart, he/she could strongly benefit from a cloned liver. Or if there are several heart donors for the child, but none of them are suitable for the child. If the child's heart can be cloned, then it may get a second chance at living. In the same way that cloning can be beneficial, it can also bring harm if too many humans are cloned
This new population could risk being prone to the same diseases, and they could all die from this disease; for example AIDS. Eichler when she stated that new reproductive technologies such as human cloning are "changing the way we look at human life and restructuring society". It may become normal, and people may use cloning simply because it is readily available but it is not necessarily essential. There is a chance that this natural population might face alienation because they are different. People could possibly get carried away with the idea of perfecting a child, and destroy any characteristics they see as undesirable, and remove them. The actual act of cloning humans scares me, and I am sure it scares many others. They may become obsessed with creating a perfect child, or what society views as a perfect child. I fear that people will not value the gift of life as much and that they will see faults and make it essential to change one's genes. Besides the fact that it would be boring to have more than one of the same person in this world, I think that cloning humans for personal use such as simply wanting to eliminate a homosexual trait is abusing the technology. It would be boring if everyone is the same; same personality, looks, and intelligence. Cloning body parts would be helpful, but going out and cloning an actual human is another thing. The assumption that it may become normal for everyone to clone their children scares me. Certain conditions and regulations should be put on human cloning before it is performed.
