Father of the Techno-Thriller

             Michael Crichton is a well-educated best-selling author. All together he went to Harvard for eight years. He has taught himself a great deal of knowledge just by traveling to exotic places, doing research for a book, or by simply getting into a hobby or interest. He has written books, directed films, owned his own software company, won many awards, and traveled to most of the world. In short, Michael Crichton has led a fuller, different, and more knowledgeable life than most people.
             Michael Crichton was born in Chicago, IL in 1942. Michael played basketball for Roslyn High School and at 6' 7" in the tenth grade he was considered a giant. He was one of four children in a family that did a lot of traveling. When he had graduated from high school, he had already been to forty-eight states, Canada, Mexico, and five European countries; and by the time he started Med-School, he had been to all of Europe, North Africa, and North America. He is considered by himself to be an accomplished traveler.
             For his career, Michael was convinced that he would become a writer. He proceeded to attend Harvard, majoring in English. The courses proved to be difficult, especially in English, in which he had barely maintained a C. The teachers were very analytical of his writings and were not very encouraging towards his choice of a career. This proved to be very disconcerting to him and he decided to test the English department. In a bold move, Crichton plagiarized a George Orwell essay and retyped it as his own. If he got caught, he faced expulsion from Harvard. However, he reworded the paper well enough that his teachers did not notice the similarities between his report and the George Orwell essay.
