             Gibson's version is more to reality
             The ghost scene in the 1990 Version of Hamlet directed by Franco Zeferelli far surpasses in many ways the version made in 1996 of Hamlet directed by Kenneth Branagh. The Gibson version is better because Gibson and Paul Scofield who plays the ghost portray the scene more to reality of how it would have happened according to Shakespeare's text. The ghost is seen to be more of just a pale person who looks dead or very sick. Which was a much better approach to go to then in the 1996 version where the ghost looks possessed and over done. The reactions and body movements of Gibson and Scofield show the feelings and emotions of Hamlet and his father better at the time. The only emotions that are portrayed out in the Branagh production are horror and confusion. Gibson and Scofield even though there acting ability did not shine portrayed this scene better with the relationship between father and son and how a father and son would react in that situation.
             The first meeting of the ghost and Hamlet happens when hamlet is with Horatio. The expressions and reaction that they had when seeing the ghost were acted good the fall back but then they came to there bearings fast because Hamlet wanting to follow the ghost. In the Branagh version they are up against a gate when they see the ghost it is being tried to portrayed right from the beginning as fear and horror to come across. Then by showing the woods with all the fog it makes it seem done up, makes it seem something that would not be realistic. How it is done that Gibson starts to follow the ghost has long staircases, so it seems lost in the castle to create the mood in the scene. When hamlet sees the ghost at the end of the long hallway it portrays best the reunion that is about to happen between father and son.
