Choice as a last resort
If you were raped and got pregnant should you have the option of having an abortion? Many people disagree whether abortions should be legal. Yes, abortions are very wrong, but only if this were a perfect world would abortions not exist. Prolife people have extremely negative feelings toward people who perform or have abortions. There are many reasons why women choose to have an abortion. Two main reasons why abortions should always stay legal: in cases of rape or incest, and medical reasons. These reasons should not be needed for a women to be able to have an abortion. Many people(if not all) who are prolife want abortions to be outlawed no matter what the reason may be. This should never be considered, because there are many cases that having an abortion is the only humane or logical thing to do. Abortions also are done to save the mothers life. Still certain people think this is wrong and should be illegal to perform abortions even for these reasons. Most religions prohibit abortions without any exceptions, but sometimes important decision have to be made that is in our best interest. In some pregnancies there are serious complications that jeopardizes the mothers life and an abortion is necessary to save her life. It is cruel if a women were forced to go through a pregnancy if she did not want to bring a severely deformed unhealthy child into the world. These girls are too young to take care of themselves not to mention an infant. Sometimes this is true; many young girls today ruin there lives by becoming pregnant at such a young age. Rape victims are sometimes impregnated by there attacker and most of the time these women turn to abortions to deal with the pregnancy. These women are usually unwed and are not ready to have a child. This choice should be left to the women not the lawmakers who are almost all men. It is also unfair for any child to have to suffer the consequences of being born in a unstable environment with out a father. Women should always have the option of having an abortion. The reason why most abortions take place is because most women or young girls become pregnant with out planning the pregnancy; in other words the pregnancy was an accident. There are humane reasons that abortions should be performed.
