Bradley Nowells Life

             Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about Bradley Nowell, his early life, his early success with the band Sublime, and his untimely death.
             March 1997, I come home late Sunday night from work and turn on MTV's 120 Minutes to see a new video I never saw before. The name of the band was Sublime. The name of the song was called "What I Got." I have been listening to the band since. Their popularity continued to rise with mainstream hits such as "Santeria", "Wrong Way", and "Doin Time". And I began to research the history of this 3-man band. In particular I focused my attention to the late Bradley Nowell, the lead signer and guitarist of Sublime. My name is Tom Myron and I am here to talk about Bradley Nowell, his early life, his early success with Sublime, and his untimely death. My information was obtained off of several websites that give tribute to Bradley Nowell and the book Bradley Nowell: Portrait of a Punk written by Hedi Cuda.
             Bradley James Nowell was born February 22nd 1968 in Long beach California. Bradley was a gifted child that was musically inclined, with his mother a singer and his father a man who enjoyed playing the guitar. At Christmas his family would go on for hours with Brad singing with his Dad, Uncle, and Grandfather. It was no wonder that his musical talent turned out to be his eventual career. Brad was a very smart kid that got good grades and was even smart enough to get his little sister Kelly to do his homework when he didn't feel like it. But "He wasn't school minded" and his guidance counselors realized he wasn't living up to his potential so they labeled him A.D.D. and ironically started his drug habit with Ritalin.
