Bradley Nowells Life
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about Bradley Nowell, his early life, his early success with the band Sublime, and his untimely death.March 1997, I come home late Sunday night from work and turn on MTV's 120 Minutes to see a new video I never saw before. The name of the band was Sublime. The name of the song was called "What I Got." I have been listening to the band since. Their popularity continued to rise with mainstream hits such as "Santeria", "Wrong Way", and "Doin Time". And I began to research the history of this 3-man band. In particular I focused my attention to the late Bradley Nowell, the lead signer and guitarist of Sublime. Some kid asked Jake, "What does your daddy do?" and some little girl turned around and said, "Jake doesn't have a daddy. In June of 1995 their son Jakob James Nowell was born. He hooked up with Gwen Stephani of No Doubt and made a song called "Saw Red" that was going to be used for his demo and new album. At Christmas his family would go on for hours with Brad singing with his Dad, Uncle, and Grandfather. Brad was a very smart kid that got good grades and was even smart enough to get his little sister Kelly to do his homework when he didn't feel like it. Brad was a man who loved surfing, eating, drugs, his dog Louie, his son Jakob, his wife Troy, and of course his music. On his 12th birthday he got his first guitar and started writing his own songs. On one of Bradley's breaks from school Wilson introduced him to drummer Bud Gaugh. In 1994 they released their second album "Robin the Hood" and Bradley met Troy Dendekker on tour. All 3 started jamming together and Sublime was bornII. "She told me at Jakobs birthday party last year, a bunch of kids were talking about what their daddy does or what their mommy does.
