While I was watching MTV, there was a special that was called "When Lyrics Kill". Eminem, one of the upcoming rap star that are topping the charts as we speak, was being featured. Eminem is known for explicit lyrics. He says what he thinks and feels and doesn't care what other people think even if he is offending people. His lyrics contain about killing and abusing his wife, homosexuals, and other subjects that other artist dare not to rap about. What makes him stand out is his boldness to speak his mind. There have been plenty of issues that parents and other people have brought to his attention. His music sells, but should our kids be listening to it? His music sends messages to people. It may be the right message or even the wrong message. How can people prevent this from going to far. Censorship is the answer. Censorship has always been a controversial question and a very interesting topic to talk about to one another. Should this be allowed to be on TV? Is it okay if we listen to this in school? Little girls admire Britney Spears, the teen popstar, but when she came out in a very revealing, skin toned, two piece and performed sexy and provocative moves, it makes you think. Do we have to wait till something happens toset a limit? Who should we point the fingers to? The media? Our parents? The children?Everyone should have part of that blame. I know that kids our naive and when it comes to music and movies, they think they know what they want, even if its not good for them. Lyrics do get inside of people's mind which may lead to destructive thoughts and violent actions. I thought about if Censorship was the right way, to prevent offending anyoneor resulting to violence. She meant that the real issue is values, the quality of life. To me censorship is when something is blocked, not seen, not heard, or not open to the public because it offends people. My adviceto prevent a hatred world with violence is for parents to be involve with their kids. Today you can turn on the TV and peopleare using profanity, violent and gory scenes are on, and sex scenes are on every channel. Theguarantee of freedom of speech and press assures to all people a right to speak, published, and otherwise expresses their view. According to the Constitution, Amendment One, talks abouthow we have that right to speech.
