Daisy is portrayed in a perfect manner for describing any old money figure. Her portrayal through Nick's eyes gives insight to the true character of Daisy as compared to Gatsby's image of her. Daisy was somewhat deceiving, but added confusion was due to Gatsby's grand illusion. Daisy's actions reveal her true character by exploitation of her weaknesses in situations and by being herself, which was in direct contrast to Gatsby's idea of her. Daisy was a stereotypical old money character in coordination with her lack of responsibility, resolve, and values. Daisy repeatedly showed all of those lacking qualities throughout the novel. When Daisy confesses to Nick that, "the best thing a girl can be...is a beautiful little fool," it shows how disillusioned and cynical Daisy is. "She didn't play with soldiers...but with young men w

These statements reinforce Daisy's lack of resolve because she can't decide for herself and must be acted upon or influenced by an outside force. Daisy being herself did not end up! fully impressing Gatsby to total elation, which was a bitter disappointment to Gatsby's grand illusion. Unfortunately for Gatsby, the obsession for which he solely lived for, ended up being his downfall and eventual death. Daisy was a bit of a snob in her actions and she seemed to be airheaded in her reasoning. One problem was that Gatsby had only memories of the past and built up Daisy to be something that she wasn't. Another symbol that depicts Daisy's true character is the color white, which symbolizes her airheaded, fake, and superficial attitude. Daisy shows a lot of uneasiness in relation with suspicion of Tom's unfaithfulness. and the decision must be made by force," both describe when Jay Gatsby left overseas for the army and Daisy was now by herself. The way Daisy conducted herself in an everyday lifestyle was quite disturbing in many ways. "She looked at me absently," is symbolic of Daisy's acting bored and sophisticated as she was relaxing on her couch dressed in white, propping her chin up.
