The issue I am looking at is what are the advantages and disadvantages of Britain having so many cars. This is quite an important issue because it will affect everyone in the country. If someone did a questionnaire, which asked people to list the advantages and disadvantages of the car you would get totally different answers from every person you asked.
             I feel that this is a controversial issue because over 70% of the population own a car, the people without a car would now experience a quieter and cleaner life. In the next few pages I will be writing about my opinions of the advantage and disadvantages of Britain having so many cars. At the end I will be writing a conclusion, which will have brought all the important facts together.
             The way in which I will put forward the argument is by listing an advantage then the reason it is an advantage, then the disadvantage, which would be a downside of that particular advantage.
             The first and most obvious advantage is that the car is very quick, which is a great asset. If you are trying to get somewhere you can get there in no time at all with a minimum amount of effort. For example, it takes approximately 20 minutes by car for you to travel from Congleton to Festival Park in Hanley, as I'm sure you will agree, this is very fast. The major disadvantage with everyone wanting to go places very quickly, is there gradually becomes a build up of cars, which keeps on growing and growing until you have a huge traffic jam or congestion. This takes a long time to clear so instead of taking 20 minutes to get to Festival Park it could take 30 or 40 minutes.
             Another advantage that I feel needs to be brought to notice is that cars create lots of jobs. This is an advantage, because the unemployment rate would inevitably go down which would supposedly be better on keeping the crime rate down.
