Manitoba Canada

Manitoba is one of Canada's three Prairie Provinces. It lies midway between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Winnipeg is the capital of Manitoba. It is also its largest city. Winnipeg is the main transportation center linking eastern and western Canada. It is also the providence's main industrial center where most of the population of Manitoba lives.The word Manitoba came from the Algonquian language of the Indians. The tribe thought that Manito or Great Spirit made the echoing sound that came from the Strait of Manitoba. These sounds were made by the waves smashing against limestone ledges on the shore. The Indians called this part of the lake Manito, the Great Spirit's strait. Manitoba's nickname is the Keystone Province. This nickname came about because of Manitoba's location.
