To Kill a Mockingbird - Jem

In the novel "To kill a mockingbird" by Harper Lee The Character Jem Finch is a very brave character. Jem is always sticking up for his little sister even in times that he is scared, he stays strong.
An example of Jem's bravery is at the very end of the book when Jem and Scout are walking back from the school Halloween pagent in the pitch black. They heard someone following them and Jem kept reasuring scout that it was just a kid or the wind, even though he was scared himself. And when he was jumped by Bob Ewell he first thinks of Scout's safety and kicks lose to help Scout run. I think this is the best example of Jem's bravery because even when he is very scared himself he thinks first of keeping Scout from being scarred. Also when Bob Ewell attacks him he does not just run away, he gets to Scout and helps her before he is knocked unconscious.
Another example of Jem's bravery is at the very beginning of the book durring the first summer with Dill. Dill dares Jem to run up and touch the Radley house, at that time they still thought Boo was a crazy killer. But Jem went anyways all the way up to the house. And he didn't "chicken out". This is not as good as an example as the first, but this does indeed show that Jem is not afraid to face his fears. Although Jem was reluctant to do it at first he ended up doing it to protect his image.
And the last example of Bravery for Jem is after He had his fit of rage at Ms. Dubose. After he had ripped up her bushes he realized what he did was wrong. Jem then went down to Ms. Dubose's and offered to make up for what he did. I think this also shows bravery because he had the guts to go back to the place after he did a bad thing. Personally I wouldn't have stepped foot back in that yard ever. But he did right after he had time to think about what he did. So in comparrison he is very brave.
In conclusion I think that Jem Finch's ...
