Tale of Two Cities characters

Jarvis Lorry - He is the old businessman who works for Tellson's Bank. He is a very organized person with an honest and good heart. Lucie Manette - She is a young French woman who grew up in England. She was raised as a child of Tellson's Bank when her parents were assumed dead. What Lucie does is she binds the other characters in the story together, serving as its central figure. Doctor Manette - He is Lucie's father and an intelligent scientist. He has been imprisoned in the Bastille for eighteen years. Although he recovers his mental health during the novel, his long imprisonment scarred his mind. He proves to be a good father, whom Lucie loves dearly.

Monsieur Defarge - He is a wine shop owner and revolutionary in the poor Saint Antoine section of Paris. The Theme:The main themes in this book are resurrection and revolution. He is a good man, but his origins are mysterious. Carton is supposed to be the opposite of Darnay, who has made good of his life. He is secretive, intelligent, and a great leader. Miss Pross - She is the servant who raised Lucie. The Setting:The setting is supposed to be during the French Revolution in London and Paris. These ways include starting a life over again, faking one's own death, escaping almost certain death, digging out bodies, and living on in the hearts of others. Resurrection is never literally accomplished but it appears in many different ways throughout the book. Jerry Cruncher - He is an odd-jobs man for Tellson's Bank.
