Making the world a little more perfect

             In a perfect world there would never be violence, rape and murder. There certainly wouldn't be prostitution either. But because our world is not perfect, all of those things happen and happen often. America's oldest profession, prostitution, has remained for hundreds of years. To this day, there are many woman and teenage girls selling their bodies to men strictly for pleasure. Prostitutes around the world and particularly in the United States are looked down upon. There are so many problems with prostitutes, such as moral issues, violence and high risk for catching and spreading diseases. If prostitution were legal there would not be violence from pimps, the customers would be documented and tested and the risk of transmitting disease would decrease greatly. Thus in the end the prostitute's life and life at work would become a lot less stressful and more safe.
             As the owner of the prostitute, a pimp, manages the prostitutes money, decides which corner they should work and ultimately, who they are having sex with. When they do collect the money the prostitute gets only a certain percent. Also, they put the prostitutes in unsafe areas and places in neighborhoods with drugs and violence. These are things that need to be addressed. These women are making the choice to sell their body for money and yet they do not receive the money they've earned. They are also forced to do things they do not want to.
             There is nothing glamorous about being a pimp, even though the younger American population has adopted the word to mean something positive. In most cases pimps view prostitutes as a "whore" or a "trick." They are usually verbally abusive and more likely than not, physically abusive. Pimps are typically men who are in to the drug scene or lead highly violent lives. When a prostitute is hired by a pimp, the pimp automatically ensures them they will be taken care of, they will be safe and nothing will go wrong. The pimp's job is to watch...
