I had been studying abroad for the summer in Italy, and on the day that I was supposed to return home to the States, my flight was cancelled. Much to my dismay, I was forced to spend the night in Milan and take the earliest flight the following day. Because Rachel was on the same flight as I, she was forced to spend the night as well. I simply wanted to be at home in my own bed, not in some random airport hotel with a girl who made Marilyn Manson look tame. Even though I hoped she would say no, she accepted my invitation, and we walked down to the lobby together.
The next morning we both woke up bright and early to catch out flights. This caught my attention, and we soon discovered that we both have a common Italian background.
