How to shoot a basketball

When you play in any level of basketball such as youth, high school, collage, or professional, shooting is a key element of the game. With out a good shot you can't score points, and you'll likely sit on the bench most of the game. The three basic shots are the jump shot, free throw, and three pointers. You might have to critique your shot when you're done reading this paper. Having a good jump shot helps establish a good free throw and a good three pointer. When you shoot the middle range jumper, your body and its center of gravity should be between you're feet prior to shooting the basketball. Your knees, ankles, elbows, and wrists should be bent before you shoot the basketball. Have your eyes focused on one part of the basket before you shoot, whether it's the front of the basket, back of the basket, or other places on the basket. Pick one, and be consistent with it every time. Hold your hands on the basketball firmly enough to give yourself control of the basketball. If you're a lefty, your right hand is the non shooting hand. If you're a righty, the left hand is you're non shooting hand. As your arm raises the basketball your shooting hand and its elbow should move unde

Usually, shooting a three pointer is for ages 12 and older. It just depends on how far you can shoot a basketball. If you can do all of those things, you're shot will be very good. All you have to do to be good at shooting threes is to have strength in you're legs and practice. You have to practice a lot, and be consistent on every shot. Somewhere between your shoulders and when you release the basketball, the non shooting hand should me removed from the basketball. If you take a longer shot, use more legs, not arms. Have your knees, ankles, elbows, and wrist bent before you shoot the basketball. Because of this perception, the shooter may shoot the ball too far. Three pointers are long and rewarding shots. As your arms raise the basketball, your shooting hand and its elbow should move under the basketball. Remember, your non shooting hand is just a guide. As you see, free throws are more of a mental process and consistency. It's an easy fifteen foot shot, you're right in front of the basket, and no one is near you. Shooting the three is just like a normal jump shot, just longer.
