Yosemite

             Last summer, my family and I spent a week at Yosemite National Park. It was a drilling experience. We had such a good time camping in the wilderness and learning many interesting things about nature. This gave us a chance to appreciate all the beauties of nature provided for us. Yosemite is a perfect place for families. This place is known for its spectacular natural scenery, its long history, and a vast variety of activities for enjoyments.
             Yosemite is probably best know for natural beauties. Located a in a portion of the Sierra Nevada that stretches along California's eastern flank, Yosemite National Park embraces a vast tract of scenic wildlands. The park has three major features: alpine wilderness, groves of Giant Sequoias, and Yosemite Valley. Each features contributes different characteristics to the park My favorite feature is the valley, a mosaic of open meadows sprinkled with wildflowers and flowering shrubs, oak woodlands, and mixed conifer forests of ponderosa pine, incense-cedar. Wildlife from monarch butterflies to mule deer and black bears flourishes in these communities. Waterfalls around the valley's perimeter add more to the Yosemite's majestic nature. Some of the waterfalls I encounter during the stay were the Bridalveil, Vernal, Nevada, and Illiouette. The views are just mesmerizing.
             Yosemite's history is as breathtaking as its beauties. During my stay, I was captivated by Yosemite's history. According to the tourist's guide, the Yosemite valley was formed millions of years ago when the crust of the earth rose up; and during the final receding years of the Ice Age, glaciers melted, and left a dam of broken rock that led to the formation of lakes. Eventually, silt which washed down from mountain streams filled the lake and transformed it into a broad valley filled with liveliness.
