There have been cases of long-term psychological effects in some instances. Growing up with one parent can sometimes be very hard on a child. The children often feel that they are responsible for the breakup of their parents. These children may also do poorly in school. Sometimes their minds are so scarred, depending on how bad the divorce situation was, and as they grow older, they start to become rebellious towards their parents. Marriage is a commitment between two people for better or for worse, but that rule is being broken too frequently with divorces being so casual.
