Sociology 1301: Principles of SociologyAs a member of Group 1 and one of the five colonists arriving on a new planet, my goal is to assist in establishing the six major institutions for this new society. Our six institutions are government, economics, education, religion, family and arts/entertainment. My contribution to this new society will be providing a structure for creation of the divine, or ideology, for the new planet. First let's examine our first institution, the government.We decided to establish a total democracy that relies on free enterprise. We will divide the planet into six separate colonies, with leaders from each institution, until the voting process is in place. Political parties will become defunct, and the Electoral College will not be used for the election process. A straight flat tax of 15% will be placed on all workers and Social Security will no longer be needed. The government will utilize a House of Representatives, represented by percentage of each colonies population and will represent all men and women. The Senate will remain in place, like
I created the slide show and then reviewed with my group. I feel this exercise prepares students for comprise, teamwork, problem solving, and efficiency and focused accomplishments. Each member pulled their weight and meet the timelines established by the group the first week of class. In the previous world where religious differences are too often the cause of tragedy and warfare, I propose a new community of spirit providing a forum where people of good will from every culture and faith tradition can come together, learn from one another, and develop a shared understanding that can inspire and uplift our new society. This is a way to truly offer up different ideas, cultures, ethnic groups, religions and visions of the diverse environment represented on this planet. We collectively made some changes and agreed upon bullet points. College and trade training will be governmentally funded to assist children from all walks of financial status. Not only serving as an escape and outlet, this will enhance the learning and creating capabilities of all who live here. When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, We are One. We will expose our children to all aspects of this society, history; cultural ideologies; religion and spirituality; environmental issues; and arts and entertainment; in order to develop their minds and souls. The next institutions we addressed were economics. The three essentials of education are funding, structure and basic curriculum. Having a focused common goal of establishing a new society really made the coming together of minds a pleasant experience. Our farming communities will be of the utmost importance in this new economy, since we only have food for one year.
