Subjects:
believe that college is a waste of everyone's efforts. I, on the other hand, believe that not
to be true. In today's world you need to have a decent college education to really get
somewhere in our society. Sure, Einstein never past a math class, but that doesn't mean
that people that do go to college are just wasting their time and money. In order to get
even a decent blue collar job today you will need at least some training in a higher
education place or in a vocational/tech. school, but you still have to pay for those. No
matter how one looks at it, a higher form of learning is necessary. What if i tell you that
you'd even get paid better when you graduate than you would if you never went at all?
Bird says, "The premise- which I no longer accept- that college is the best place
for all high school graduates grew out of a noble ideal." Yes, when America has no use
for high school graduates they tell us to go to college. And it is here where we learn to
"make something of ourselves". But that doesn't mean that we don't learn anything or
. . .
And this whole thing about the teachers giving out grades to further their own
career is ridiculous.
College is like our first attempt at a video game, but we can only mess up once and still
have enough life to get us through the rest of the level. If we don't try when we are in
college then when are out in the "real world" we don't know what we can accomplish. 129,200 more than
the earnings of a male college graduate, and more than five times as much as the
$199,000 extra the more educated man could expect to earn between 22 and 64. (Bird)
That would all be nice and dandy, but I want to know why this person isn't going
to Princeton? If he can find a bank like this than there is no need for college for this guy. How does he know that students aren't actually working harder to earn
their good grades? What about the students that do learn and don't cheat about their
grades? And what would happen if these teachers who were giving out the grade only to
better themselves? These are all logical questions, but are also hard to answer. That's what their problem is, they don't have
enough esteem in their work and how they effect others in their classes. As a consequence, diplomas
will become weaker and more ornamental as the years go by. They think that if you're not in college to learn than, what the hell
are you doing here to begin with? I also believe that to be true. If you don't want to learn then don't go, but keep in mind that you might
be the one who stays behind while another friend, who went to college, gets the job that
you've coveted for the last four years. Students believe in passing their courses to get out of school, not party, flunk, and
become a super senior.
As Nietzsche once said, "In order to educate the masses there are those that have
to educate themselves. " Once again I don't agree
with his decision. 5 percent interest
compounded daily, he would have had at the age of 64 a total of $1.
