Camp Fear

The style of writing that Carol Ellis exercises in the novel Camp Fear is using very descriptive language. The theme of fear can clearly be seen and felt through many of the characters in the story. His fear was powerful” Through such striking phrases, Ellis is able to portray just how much Steve dreads the snake, which gives the reader a better understanding of how Steve truly feels, making the story more believable and therefore a better read. She explains exactly what is happening at the time in a great amount of detail. Though one negative part of the novel was the climax. ” Such detail is consistent throughout the novel giving the reader a better understanding of the mood and situation that the character is in. Though I highly recommend that everyone should read this thriller as it is of extremely high quality in every aspect. It came to far at the end of the story, which didn’t allow enough time for the resolution, giving the story an abrupt end. They clearly represent different types of people in our society that we can relate to and understand such as the goof off, the bossy one and the quiet one. The story is told in 3rd person by the major character Rachel Owens. At times in the novel the author slows down the speed of the story, which greatly increases the overall feeling of suspense and adds to the scary mood of the book.

One aspect of the book, which definitely makes it a worthwhile read is how Carol Ellis is able to illustrate the main themes of fear and revenge very realistically, making all the events in the story very believable. Carol Ellis is also able to make the characters more authentic by giving them their own strengths and weaknesses such as the ones that exist in real life.
