Night by Elie Wiesel
Word Count: 779 The book Night by Elie Wiesel brings unto a true tale of horrendous events that occurred during the Holocaust. It is told through the eyes of, Eliezer, a young Jewish boy. At his young age he began learning and studying the "revelations and mysteries of the cabbla", Jewish theosophy, with his teacher, Moshe the Beadle (3). The Talmud was something that he devoted himself too during the day and the cabbala at night. Eliezer was able to escape when Moshe and Beadle were taken away in a cattle train. He saw how Hitler reign was destructive and despairing and came back to warn everyone, "...I wanted to come back and warn you..."(5). However some were not so grateful and thought that he had gone senseless. Eliezer's father, Chlomo, was a very well known man in the town of Sighet, where they lived. Not all incidents with Eliezer and his father all good. Chlomo fell asleep and was mistaken for a dead body. Another incident where Eliezer and Chlomo need each other is during the escape from Buma. They came up with the idea of sleeping one at a time so one would watch over the other. As soon and Eliezer and his family reached Birkenau, the reception center for Aushchwitz, they were immediately separated by sex, "Men to the left! Women to the right!"(27). His relationship with his father, I found, was the most important thing for him to survive. However Eliezer was able to convince the other men that he was still alive, ". Chlomo is an older man; he becomes slow and weak during the concentration camps and looks to be a problem towards Eliezer, however has some good advice to offer. You might sleep for good. He is instantly beaten for just speaking. Though Eliezer always found his father, there is always that one chance that he could not be there. all the answers and always willing to give advice.
