The importance of calcium minerals in our daily lives

Calcium is a fairly hard material found naturally through the earth. It is one of the most abundant elements on earth, forming over 3% of the earth’s crust. Calcium has 6 stable and several radioactive isotopes. Refer to figure 1 for the properties of calcium and figure 2 for a picture of what calcium looks like. If calcium was no longer available anywhere and it was not possible to produce it artificially, it would have a deep impact on the lives of humans everywhere on the earth. We have many major uses for calcium that are Cement and the calcium is also used by our bodies to produce bones and teeth. Without the uses of calcium there would be a large social problem that would have an effect on most living things.

There is no solution to the absence of calcium in the human body yet but maybe in 50 years medical scientists would have found why the body chooses calcium over other minerals.

· Luster is vitreous to greasy and gumdrop. But as for now the body only uses calcium for it’s teeth and bones, we cannot change what our bodies need to keep them healthy. And animals such as snails that depend on a shell for protection would not be able to protect themselves and would eventually die out.

Solution to the absence of calcium in the human body

Because we do not fully understand how our bodies work. Also without calcium diseases such as Osteoporosis will affect all women after menopause. All animals that also depend on calcium phosphate such as cattle, which we need as a food source, will also become extinct.
