The writer intends to say that many people are not and do not intend to be discourteous but mainly informality and indifference confuses us. The writers attitude towards the subject varies depending on the subject. The writer says that it's very ill mannered when people do things like that, even though it's their own fault. The other thing the writer says that even though people are showing courtesy they way they show it has changed a lot. The other example is of the parents of soccer players who were shouting obscenities at a teenage coach. She instead ended up mowing fifteen people some of them seriously injured.
