In Elizabethan times, death was seen morally acceptable if it was out of honour and loyalty. He is saying that Ophelia can be honest and fair, but honesty is an inward trait, and fairness is an outward trait, so the two would never be linked. Another interpretation of Hamlet would be to say he doesn’t value his life or life of other individuals as he feels death is inevitable. Part of Hamlet’s act or character was based upon the issue of beauty of the opposite sex. It would be seen acceptable if Hamlet executed Claudius in revengeful circumstances based on his instinct, but Hamlet anticipated this to happen too long which made his feelings and emotions intense as the days passed. He had to be completely sure before taking action.
