What makes an Employee
I was in the store the other day and an employee came up and asked me if I needed any help. I turned around to make sure I was not hearing things. Today this is happening less and less often. For some reason employees no longer seem to care if the customer gets the help they need or not. Or it appears if they keep their job. The employee only wants to collect the paycheck at the end of the week and go home. As consumers our goal is to recognize the type of employee we are dealing with and respond to them on their level to get the help we need. When I was growing up your job was an integral part of you life. You cared about what other people thought about how you did your job and what your boss thought about how you did your job. Today, however, many people seem to take for granted that they should have jobs but that they do not need to work at them. They are often times lazy and unresponsive to an employer's wishes. When they are asked to do a task they procrastinate so long that the job never gets completed then the boss or someone else ends up doing it. I have categorized these workers into four types, which we will discuss. There are probably more that you could come up with but for o
They care about the quality of the job they do no matter how important or unimportant it is. I do not see much advantage to this type of a person. They are eager to see that a job is done right the fist time and does not have to be repeated or done by someone else. Then they would make a much better employee. This type of employee is usually totally unreliable. Although they can now buy anything they want they cannot buy friends that truly care for them so whom do they trust? Trust cannot be bought so they now have no one on whom they can rely. They are not satisfied with a reasonable amount of money but need to keep making more and more till they have more than they know what to do with. They are generally always on time everyday and have people at home to back them up on that front so that they have less worries when away from home so they can devote their energies to the job at hand. They are not afraid to go for help when it is required and they make sure that the job is done on time and to the specifications required. They don't always show up for work when they are supposed to. Some teenagers can turn out to be hard working and productive employees if given the right incentives. The Money Mongrel - is after collecting all the money they can accumulate in a lifetime. This type of employee is priceless. They are often late and leave early for a multitude of reasons. They are constantly worried about whether there will be enough money left over to buy school clothes or will we be able to eat out at Burger King this week.
