Unemployment

Would it not be disturbing to read in the newspapers or watch at our famous 6 "o" clock
news that twenty five to thirty workers have been laid off because the company is in the process of running bankrupt?
It is rather discouraging to see an old friend and if the question of employment pops up, the person is either waiting on a reply from a company or is however on the process of loosing faith within the employment sector of our economy.
It would only be right however, to discuss unemployment as the many factors of concern as it relates to leadership in my country "Guyana". It has been a year since I have gotten my high school diploma from one of the most prominent high schools in my country and was however employed on numerous occasions but was not satisfied with the salary that has been offered to me. My aim however, is to now further my education in order to secure a good position in an organisation with a well paying salary.
According to the Bureau of statistics in Guyana after having a 12% in 1992 we are now being faced with a 30% rate of unemployment. This figure however, triggers many questions in the minds of many Guyanese. A brief interview was carried out with persons of my community and other parts of the country. 45% of parents are wondering if it is right to even allow their children to continue schooling for not only is the unqualified persons turn down from jobs but so are the qualified. 15% of the students are thinking about giving up education because they feel it's a waste of time. 20% have given up completely on searching for jobs. 15% of the persons are still looking for jobs and the remaining 5% are employed.
It is either you are over qualified or you are under qualified. There is only little the normal citizens of the country can afford to do, those who open private companies can only afford to employ a few people and still many are left hungry on the streets.
