Abbott was also included in Working Mothers magazine list of 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers. But this will never happen as long as profits drive a company. The worst thing though for Abbott had to be the misdiagnosed cancer of Jennifer Rufer. The whole pharmaceutical industry to consumers seems to be very unethical because they are seen as raising prices for more profit and stealing the social security check from the elderly. Also they have expanded and merged with companies like BASF and Medisense, Inc. " (Kahn), which is good that they are informed about the drug, but they don't know about any side effects that may occur. Abbott claimed that it wasn't their fault because its only a pregnancy test and not a cancer diagnoser. Robert Parker of the Federal Trade Commission said, "That is good for the name-brand company in that it continues its monopoly and it's high prices.
