On of the reasons that Fibonacci’s series has become so well known is its consistent occurrence in nature. This sequence is very useful, and appears in many areas of maths and science. In this sequence, each number (after the first two numbers) is the sum of the two previous numbers.
A problem in Liber Abaci led to the introduction of the well-known Fibonacci sequence:
A certain man put a pair of rabbits in a place surrounded on all sides by a wall.
Leonardo Fibonacci’s discoveries in maths, particularly his part in spreading the Arabic numeral system and discovering the Fibonacci sequence, have certainly had a significant effect on mathematics and even in architecture and art. How many pairs of rabbits can be produced from that pair in a year if it is supposed that every month each pair begets a new pair which from the second month on becomes productive?
