Steroids are used all over the world and in different ways. There are five main drugs that are banned:
Anabolic steroids - these help athletes to build muscle, and to recover faster from training;
Peptide hormones - these are substances that occur naturally in the body, but which produce similar effects to the anabolic steroids;
Strong analgesic painkillers - such as morphine and other opiates;
Stimulants - drugs like amphetamines and cocaine can raise the heart rate and may improve performance;
Diuretics - chemicals that help the body to lose fluids, and may, for instance, be useful in helping boxers to meet their fighting weight. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/hi/english/in_depth/2000/drugs_in_sport/newsid_859000/859465.stm

They have become so dependant on their appearance and the "pumped" feeling they had while on the steroids, when they discontinue their use, they become depressed, can't sleep, can't eat properly, and can possibly become suicidal due to the psychological "withdraw" symptoms.
These people are breaking the law and ignoring the consequences of the physical and illegal steroids. In an article called “Seduced by Steroids” written by Carleton Kendrick says “Kids are taking steroids. Parents buy these illegal drugs for there sons so that they are the best players on the team.
