             Everyone lives life differently; however, in the case of Neil and Finny, they loved life and always made it fun. Sharing many characteristics, Neil and Phineas, or Finny was what he was called, were almost like twins. Although they probably didn't look the same, they had many similar character traits. These two play main characters in two separate, but excellent stories. Neil and Finny both shared the inability to do what they really wanted; both 'seized the day', and tragically died in the end.
             Both popular students, Neil and Finny were well liked at school. Neil attended an all guy's school in New England, as did Finny. Welton is the name of the wealthy school that Neil attended, and Finny was educated at Devon, another respected school on the East coast. As an avid athlete, Finny was recognized numerous times in the athletic department at his school. For instance, whenever Finny returned back to Devon, one of the first places he always wanted to visit was the gym, "...past the Trophy Room, where his [Phineas] name was already inscribed on one cup, one banner, and one embalmed football" (Knowles 105). On the other hand, Neil was well known as an actor. Finny was a poor student at school, whereas Neil was exceptional. While at school, both of these characters encountered problems that ended up killing them in the end.
             In the minds of Neil and Finny, they both faced a substantial obstacle while at school. Finny broke his leg after tumbling from a tree, and Neil was forced by his parents to become a world-renowned doctor from Harvard. With Finny's broken leg, he was unable to enlist himself in the armed forces. In spite of Finny's leg, he still had a good attitude; after all, his ultimate dream and wish was to fight for the United States. Although Neil was told not to act, he disobeyed his father's word and did so anyhow. However, Neil was caught acting, and his father promptly removed him from Welton. Finny
