Dad and Dave on our selection

As time goes back we begin to see just how hard it was to live then. Dad and Dave On Our Selection demonstrates how the good old Aussie family coped with the harsh, dry conditions in the outback. This dramatic comedy, illustrates the pleasant and repulsive characteristics of the film. These actors in the movie played their roles as Aussie Bushmen really well.

The Rudd family were as poor, as most selectors. Joseph Rudd (dad), Dave, Joe, Dan, Kate, Sarah and Mum were a large family that all worked on their selection. They all used every last bit of strength in them so they could earn their small fortune.

At the start of the film, John Williamson sings while scenes from the film are shown. This technique introduces the viewer to the film. The scenes are very dull and this technique is called dullness which shows the viewer that the film was set back a while ago. After the song finishes, the title appears. The song and the start of the movie are both very effective together because they let the viewer understand the start of the movie and create a mood of anticipation. There is a fault made when he's playing the accordion because you can here another instrument in the song.

An interesting shot called the point of view is used when Mayor Riley arrived at the Rudd family on his horse and cart talking to Mr Rudd. Joseph Rudd (dad) was the typical hard-working farmer who never gave up Leo McKern acted the role of Joseph Rudd with so much talent that you would think he would be like that in real life. An editing technique called dialogue overlap was used in the film when the camera was on the Rudd family, and the audience can hear Mr Rudd speaking to a friend off the scene. The women in the movie played the workers and housewives proficiently.

The actors in film played their role very pleasantly.

The soundtrack of the film was incredibly productive because the movie’s sound effects were used at the right scenes. Available lighting is a lighting technique used throughout the film by using natural sunlight and candles. Other sound effects were used to reveal the peoples expressions that made it more exhilarating. The creators of Dad and Dave on our selection have not incorporated many special effects. The boys Dave, Dan and Joe played their role with a positive approach to the film. This shows us that Mr Riley has more power.
