Open Mindedness through the Eye's of Dr. Seuss
Creativity and imagery are key elements that make up Dr. Seuss' books, over 50 titles released by Theodor Geisel have been well known for his amazing ability to play and manipulate simple words. Dr. Seuss implies open mindedness through stories such as Cat in the Hat, and Oh, the Places you'll Go using character/pictures, word play and self asked questions. Creating a pathway to the mind using books develop a good sense of open mindedness but how does this relate to his books?
In every children book there is always unique pictures to go along with the story, in Dr. Seuss' books the pictures are very much different from other children novels. Creatures and animals made upon imagination and ideas, things that do not exist in reality. Cat in the Hat is by far one of the most well known children's books of all time. A mysterious cat that can verbally speak, walk the walk, and act like any other natural human being. The color and image of the physical appearance creates an easier and simple thought giving the reader a better understanding towards the character's roll. Being open-minded will allow you to imagine the physical and personal trait of a character.
What's really amazing is the simple yet complex word play Dr. Seuss creates. Words that can not be physically touched are altered to take on life form. The creativity and thought put into each sentence presents it self to create imagery and structure for the story. Open-mindedness and being able to see exactly what Dr. Seuss is trying to say is mind boggling. Having pictures to illustrate an image is incredible but having words create it is a unique way to develop a real portrait. Oh, the Places you'll Go, becomes quite deep going into real depth developing a world that can be explored with endless boundaries with words to create such a spontaneous place.
