Hollywood: movie money makers

Every summer moviegoers flock to the theaters to see what Hollywood has punched out as their big summer hits. Some do well and become successful blockbuster, while the others fail to stand up to their potential hype. Yet in the past few years it’s seem as though movies themselves have become less entertaining, and more to the aspect of just making money. With every new movie comes new technology in films, which is good, but it can also be said that every movie then losses part of it’s artistic and authentic view. Or it could just be that movies have become less entertaining and more to the point of just making money.

Now try to remember the last movie you saw during the summer that didn’t have explosions, gunfights, and one big car chase. It’s hard, mainly because all most every summer movie is like that. Hollywood really hasn’t been trying to put out any real great summer movies since the mid 90’s. Movies like “Forrest Gump”, “Pulp Fiction”, “Fargo”, and the classic “Dazed and Confused”. All theses movies came out in the summer, all that were good, and all that did well at the theaters, not blockbuster huge, but enough to be a hit. Now

. . .

But we all know movies will always be there for us. And maybe Hollywood is just getting old, trying to push out all the can before it ends. Not many people went to the movie theaters this summer, it was one of the lowest summer box office records in the past 5 years. But from the past summer’s box off records it seems they wont be getting that much. But still Hollywood wont stop at making there big budget films. No matter if it is a stupid summer action flick like “Battlefield Earth”, which I don’t even like to refer to as a motion picture. And if your in the businesses, your making money. So maybe it’s time Hollywood take notice. Movies like that get people talking, wanting to go see it again and again. What Hollywood never caught on to was that theses movies didn’t have hardly any special effects, and were still able to beat out there epic action movies at the box office. “ Final Fantasy”, which came out just this summer, was all computer generated and almost looked real, with its characters and settings. But they keep getting worse and worse, un realistic.
