             One's character and outside appearance are reflected through the ego. The conscious ego is a result of the clash between the unconscious super-ego and id. There is a process that creates the super-ego and eventually affects the ego. This important procession is early object identification, leading to the Oedipus complex, in turn creating the super-ego, and as a result providing the ego with a profound influence.
             Object identification provides a person their earliest influence that leads to the Oedipus complex and ultimately shapes one's ego. The primitive oral phase, or object identification stage develops one's erotic object choices. One learns how to react, by deciding whether they can survive without the object or will do anything to maintain it. If the object identification becomes too strong, a pathological outcome or personality disorder could occur. There's a transformation from the object-libido to the narcissistic libido that leads to desexualization. A person's first object identifications usually stemming from their parents are the strongest and longest lasting to affect the person and their capacity for resisting future object identifications. Parents provide this early identification.
             The Oedipus complex goes one step further with object identification, focusing on the parents and creating important character and authority traits that mold the super-ego. This premise states that the individual becomes ambivalent to the father from a progression of identification and jealousy, and creates object identification in an affectionate manner towards the mother and her breasts. One must note however that bisexuality in people complicate matters with identification and jealousy, as makes it hard to nearly impossible to read.
