The Big Journey

It was the year 2056, Jonathan Burke, Sam Hiltz and I (Chris Landry) were setting up to go on the greatest expedition in the history of the world. We were going to travel to the centre of the earth. We had attempted the same thing about four year’s back, but due to some unfortunate incidences the expedition was postponed until another time. We had to find a new company to grant us some money, because the one that had originally planed to give us two million dollars backed out. Luckily we did just that, and now here we are today in good old Nova Scotia preparing ourselves for a week of excitement and adventure.

I had just finished packing everything in the car when I got a call from Jonathan, he said that the plane was waiting at the airport for me and we would be leaving in about twenty-five minutes. I told him that I was going to be a little late because I had to pick up Sam on the way. Forty-five minutes later I pulled up in Sam’s driveway, not a good way to start the trip. Sam was sitting there patiently with his arms folded across his chest.

“Hey Chris, where were you buddy, you’re late.” He said with a little smirk on his face.

. . .

This layer is about 2,300km deep, and its temperature is 2,000 to 5,000 C. Extreme pressure keeps it as a solid.

When we finally got to the airport, it was about an hour since Jonathan had called, he wasn’t very impressed.

We collected samples from each layer that we passed through, and when we got back to the surface we told everyone about our adventure to the earth’s core, and made lots of money because we made a movie. We got everything into the plane and were ready for the six-hour trip to Hawaii. Sam, Jonathan and I had invented a vehicle that we would stay in when we enter the earth.

The first layer that we went through was the rigid upper Mantle it was about 1,600 C it was about 1,000km thick. ” He replied

“Ok than, let’s go!”

We drove up the giant volcano, and entered it, our hearts were pounding and adrenaline was pumping through our blood. We got everything packed in to it and were ready to get going.

I was the navigator, Jonathan was the pilot, and Sam was the engineer. When we reached the top of the volcano it was full of a fiery liquid, it was molten rock.

The plane ride seemed to take forever, excitement was building up inside of all of us, we finally got there, the plane landed at the bottom of the volcano where our little earth machine was waiting.
