Gun Shows

             It has been known that there are over 4,000 gun shows every year in the United States. These shows attract thousands of people every year, people with licenses to sell the guns legally and people without licenses. That is the downfall. These gun shows account for a huge percentage of the gun sales in the United States. The reason that people usually buy guns at gun shows, flea markets and other organized events is that the people selling them don't usually ask for your name or a background check. This is where most of the criminals get their weapons. The criminals usually prefer to get their guns here because of the no background check policy and also the inability to trace them back committed crimes later, since there is no registration with it.
             The selling of firearms through gun shows is an increasing problem in the United States. These shows not only encourage the purchasing of guns by criminals, but also underage teenagers. It's a known fact that some of the guns that are purchased from non-licensed gun shows are used in criminal acts. Criminals mostly use them in drug offenses, crimes of violence, property crimes, and the possession of illegal firearms.
             Congress has the power, which is given to them under the "Interstate Commerce Clause" to prohibit criminals and other people from obtaining firearms at gun shows illegally. The government is trying to get the sale of firearms at gun shows to go through the Brady Background Check system, which would require all sales of firearms to people would require a background check and a waiting period before they would receive the weapon. This would help insure the kind of person that is receiving the gun isn't going to use it for illegal purposes.
