The source of political authority for "The Prince" is charismatic authority. This gave way for his mother and father to allow for Socrates' birth. One of the qualities that political leaders should possess according to Machiavelli is to be known as being liberal. His description of a capitalistic society consisted of a free market, private property ownership, a profit motive, and the presence of competition. It is has a single party, a secret police, and a monopoly over mass communications, weapons, and economy by rulers. This will allow them to have a more attractive personality and larger fan base. However, according to Machiavelli, it would be dangerous to actually own all of these qualities, but beneficial to seem like one owns these qualities. Additionally, a leader should be sincere and religious. It allowed Socrates to learn music and gymnastics. Yes, I do agree with Machiavelli and his views of what characteristics a prince should be comprised of. Another quality that should be held is that of mercifulness, but with the ability to act in a cruel manner. These qualities give the impression that a leader can relate to what his people think and feel.
