The two main men represented their two racially different groups that all wanted to join the same team. y, the man who had truly changed them all. At first, neither race made a point to get to know the others on their team. It was then that African American Julius met Caucasian Gerry, the person who was going to change his friends’ perspective in life completely. The whites didn’t want to have anything to do with the blacks and visa versa. Gerry probably also thought some things and held some prejudices against blacks. They were like cats and dogs, constantly at each other’s throats; how were they to know that it would be the beginning of a very special friendship?

Before Julius befriended Gerry, he probably always thought that all whites were prejudiced and that they felt that they were superior compared to blacks. It was only through each other that they realized that they both were prejudice in more ways than one.

In the year 1971, Alexandria was a very chaotic town with the black and white people opposing racial integration. When Julius and Gerry first met, they already had an intense dislike towards each other.
