Comparison journeys end . . .

The two texts "the naval sisters tale" and " the journeys end" are both written about scenes from the war but each one seems to do this in it's own unique way producing a completely different feeling for the reader in each tale. "The naval sisters tale" is a written transcript of a lady who was a nurse to the injured during the war, so we are receiving an eyewitness account of the war, somebody who has actually seen the horrors and she is portraying this to us in her own way "All Canadians yes . . . yes and . . . some of them very severely . . . damaged . . ."
we get her views where as in "The journeys end" we are made to feel like we are there with the characters and we are the witnesses to what is going on, in order to make our own views.
             "The naval sisters tale" is obviously a text for a listening audience "In January 1940 I was m . . . I was called up and . . . but I"
if this were intended for a reading audience the pauses and corrections in speech would not be present causing it to be more reader friendly. The transcript method of writing makes you feel like you are being spoken to (as the writing was originally intended) it is a more personal account of what went on and makes the reader feel like they are receiving first hand information. The writer has used a very loose structure to produce the feel that it should be spoken " . . . they thought they'd get to England these Dutch officers . . . Dutch captain and Dutch officers . . ." she often repeats herself and constantly goes back and forwards in the story.
In comparison to this "The journeys end" can be interpreted by both a reading and visual audience. The extract is written as a play script therefore makes perfect sense for both. It holds a more firm structure
"STANHOPE: All right sir. Come down quickly!"
