China and WHO

This essay was written for the Model United Nations (MUN) application at the American School of Doha, Qatar, by Hossein Moshfeghian in the 01-02 schoolyear. The debate over China's human rights violation has been an ongoing issue in the international communities for the past decade. One way to show the international community's disapproval of the human rights violations in China that comes to mind would be to prevent it from joining international organizations, such as the World Health Organization. However, due to the nature and role of the World Health Organization, and the nature of Chinese politics, government, and social atmosphere, I strongly recommend China's acceptance to the World Health Organization, despite the country's supposed human rights violations. The following support my argument.First, the situation of human rights in China needs to be examined. According to the US Department of State, The People's Republic of China (PRC) is an authoritarian state in which the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the paramount source of power. At the national and regional levels, party members hold almost all top government, police, and military positions. Ultimate authority rests with members of the Politburo. Leaders stress

Not admitting China to the World Health Organization would only detriment the Chinese people, who make up about a fifth of the world population. He was a professor at the prestigious Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, and many of his students were involved in the democracy movement. The solution to the human rights crisis in China is definitely one that is started from within the socialist nation, one that is supported only by the people of China. Moreover, internal movements have changed the way China is governed. He was in China during the Tiananmen Square massacre. Citizens lack the freedom to express peacefully opposition to the party-led political system and the right to change their national leaders or form of government. On the other hand, preventing China from entering the World Health Organization, or any other peaceful international organization, as a means of exerting pressure on its government with a purpose of bringing to an end to human rights violations in China, would provide not benefits. One of the foremost scholars of aesthetics and intellectual history is Professor Li Zehou. The World Health Organization is a special agency of the United Nations with a goal of improving the level of health of all people worldwide. Human right movements in the past 50 years have greatly benefited the people of China, and these movements are still working today. It is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and home to a fifth of the world population. According to its constitution, it is "the directing and coordinating authority on international health work" and is responsible for helping all peoples to attain "the highest possible levels of health. The Chinese government will listen to the complaints of the Chinese people, especially the intellectuals," says Li. China is a great and powerful nation with an ancient history exceeding most of the countries of the western world.
