Reader response part 1

             For whom the bell tolls seems to me like its moving along quickly to its climax, even though it's only about a third done. It seems that most of the Characters are pretty complex, yet have their basic 'instincts' or 'behaviors'. They all have their own and unique moral issues, yet those are mostly based on what to do about the war. Pablo is turning out to be a problem, yet it is exaggerated by the group's opinion of him and his blatant mistakes. The only memorable part in this book is that there is a nice amount of starting detail, but not to overexagerated. Depending on Pablo's future action will decide how far Roberts's operation gets along. Also I believe that something is about to go seriously wrong before the actual attack will even start.
             In this part the heat between Pablo and Robert are heating up. Their arguments are driving them both to the brink. Pablo's role in this book seems more designed for hardship than formalin and leadership, as a true leader would. I am half hoping that Pablo will come around and be a big help, but I also believe that wont happen based on his talks with his horses. The loss of El Sergo's camp is the "something is going to go seriously wrong" prediction. As for character development, Maria is looking pretty bland; Robert seems a bit more resolute on his own beliefs, as well as Anselmo. Pablo, on the other hand, only seems to be 'digging himself deeper into the hole'. The prospect of killing and its excitement all of the characters are developing on. Complications are Roberts dispatch to the General about the bridge and attack operations, which he himself disregarded later, and the scouts that are coming closer and closer to their camp. With Pablo taking the explosives, and Pilar's prediction of death, my own prediction says that of everybody who takes the bridge (which I believe WILL fall) only a few will survive.
