Qualcomm

Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is the ultimate in inside communications technology. It is fastest growing wireless technology. CDMA already has tens of millions of users throughout the world. The reasons for this are simple. CDMA supports current voice and data needs while providing a quick, cost-efficient evolutionary path to tomorrow’s systems. CDMA has greater voice quality and call clarity than other technologies because it filters out background noise, cross-talk and interference. CDMA has fewer dropped calls because it increases voice and date transmission reliability. CDMA has greater spectral efficiency because it packs more transmissions into the same space, resulting in fewer cell sites, which lowers operators' costs. It also has increased capacity, enhanced privacy, and improved coverage.

Since the first cellular mobile telephone networks opened for business in the early 1980's, growth in numbers of subscribers has consistently exceeded even the most optimistic forecasts. Even in the most advanced markets, this growth shows little sign of abating, and meanwhile, new markets are accelerating rapidly. Cellular phone technology was developed by AT&T (American Telephone and Telegraph), in it's Bell

Qualcomm believes that they succeed because our customers succeed, and we use this belief to guide our development of new products, services, and technologies. It was a combination of these new technologies that meant that mobile telephony could expand and two technological options then presented themselves.

QCT provides manufacturers with the hardware, software, tools and training, and technical support that lead to the smallest, fastest, most affordable, and feature-rich CDMA digital wireless products in the world. Along with the expansion of customers there was also a concern about the availability of bandwidth as the radio frequency became overcrowded. As the pioneer of CDMA, the foundation for 3G communications, QUALCOMM continues to lead the industry in the development of voice, data, and wireless Internet products and solutions. QCT’s chipsets and system software enable such diverse consumer devices as mobile handsets, personal digital assistants, safety location devices and wireless Internet connections worldwide. A number of American firms also developed CDMA, (Code Division Multiple Access Technology), technology. As the world's leading developer and supplier of CDMA chipsets, and solutions, QCT has shipped more than 500 million chips to CDMA manufacturers around the world. This enables the network to carry a higher capacity of calls of a higher reception quality and enables the user access to a wider number of advanced features, such as Personal Digital Assistants, (PDA's), mobile faxing and wireless e-mail. This technology has not caught on as much as TDMA, despite the fact it has 10-20 times the capacity of analogue technology.

The new digital networks use their allotted radio frequency's more efficiently than analogue and sound is transmitted by computer code rather than by waves.

There have been commercial consequences concerning these new technologies. has developed and commercialized innovative communications solutions since its founding in 1985.
