Animal Testing
They are shot, irradiated, having their limbs and neck broken, having electrodes placed on their brains, and infected with harmful and fatal diseases every day. Lab animals are subjected to cruel and heartless conditions every day of their lives as humans justify it by an attempt to further medical research; however, the truth exposed is that animal research is not an effective way to test drugs or cosmetic products, due to their large differences from the human species. This process is known as vivisection, which literally means cutting alive. Most all species of animals are used in vivisection. All animals are exposed to mental and physical torture. Since primates are mans nearest relatives, they are involved in vivisection more frequent than any other species. Monkeys are turned into drug addicts, alcoholics, force fed sweets for dental research, and are victims for car crash tests. Rat and mice are also frequently tested upon. In 1997 2,147,448 rats and mice were experimented on in the United Kingdom alone. Four million rats and mice were gassed or decapitated due to routine over breeding. Blood transfusions were delayed two hundred years because of misleading results of animal experiments. In 1998 2,659,662 experiments took place in Great Britain, of those only experiments concerning lasting pain, suffering, and lasting harm were conducted. We can create that justice and we can deliver that freedom. Even every day aspirin relieves pain for humans but causes birth defects in cats. Even after that many deaths have occurred due to vivisection more commonly no medical break through was made. Barry Horne an animal liberationist states " The fight is not for us, not four our personal wants or needs. Micheal Leahy who is for animal testing bluntly states " Most of the calls for the abolition of our routines involving animals, particularly those appearing in the press or the propaganda material issued by organizations like Animal Aide or the League Against Cruel Sports ignore a basic logical point. Obviously unknown to Leahy are the pictures of the animals condemned to a small cage for their entire lifespan, or the photographic proof of animals being dissected while still alive with out any anesthetics. " The animal's only hope for justice is that of the animal liberationist who continue to fight for animal rights every day. Researchers could put more effort into the study of the human anatomy. Animal testing is a large controversy currently in America today. Research proves that many drugs have had opposite side effects in humans than what they had when they were tested on the lab animals. Animals are being tortured every day, sometimes just for the practice and skill of dissection and surgery. They are having things dropped in their eyes, rubbed on their skin, injected into their tiny bodies, and brutally wounded for "medical research.
