Caesar did many things to earn the support of the roman citizens and to gain popularity with them. This action influenced people to assassinate him. To the eyes of his enemies and competitors this was very desirable, many of them became jealous of him. Caesar made himself the image of a very important person, members of the Senate once presented him with many great honors, so much that a mere mortal like himself should choose to accept, yet he did not even rise to greet them.

Caesar’s declaring himself as ‘dictator for life’ was against the laws of government. He threatened the positions of other people because he was dictator for the rest of his life, the “ Ladder of Office ” is made a useless climb as Caesar will have absolute power until the end of his life. Thus for the sake of their jobs the members of the Senate may have assassinated Caesar for this reason.

Among Caesar’s efforts to increase his popularity he revised the calendar and even named the month “July” after himself, this Created resentment particularly members of the Senate, who have the Greatest urge to get disposed of him.

Although many people liked Caesar, there were others who hated him. Caesar illegally crossed the River Rubicon and driven Pompey out of Rome in a civil war, Pompey fled and was later killed.
