He was allowed to plea bargain to vehicular manslaughter. Although he was sentenced to two years in prison, the judge allowed the offender to serve time in work camp and later a halfway house. This organization is made up of moms, dads, and young people. MADD's prevention efforts focused on drunk driving and underage drinking, these efforts have helped save more than 183,000 lives since the organizations founding. This organization isn't against responsible drinkers of legal drinking age of 21 years and older.
             Although alcohol-related traffic deaths have decreased by more than 40% since MADD's founding, drunk driving still remains the nations most frequently committed violent crime. According to the MADD web site, 15,786 people were killed and over 600,000 others were injured in alcohol-related traffic crashes in 1999.
